The belgian driver Freddy Loix retires from rallying

This week the belgian driver Freddy Loix of 46 years old, decide to end his successful and long career.
Freddy drove for officials teams in WRC like: Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Peugeot, Toyota…
He was 2º and 3º in the IRC and winner for 4 times the Belgian Rally Championship.
Now has the record of victories in the Ypres Rally of Belgium (11).

At a press conference in Brussels the last Monday Freddy Loix said:

“One of the reasons I’m stopping is because I was offered an excellent professional situation.”

“One of my loyal sponsors offered to take care of the public relations of several dealers of the Volkswagen group, also of Skoda. And I felt that the time had come to do something else.”

“I’ve had a lot of luck in life and rallyes have given me a lot, and now I want to give something back to the sport and help a young person.”

With these lines we can say only: “Thanks for these years of rallyes. We won´t forget you Freddy.”
